Another festival has been added to the World Poker Tour® Season XXII schedule as WPT® is scheduled to make a second trip to Playground in Montreal October 14-30.

Montreal, Canada (August 21, 2024) Six months after successfully hosting WPT® Montreal at Playground the World Poker Tour® is thrilled to return to the renowned Kahnawake poker club for another Season XXII championship festival – WPT Playground – October 14-30.

“It was such a pleasure hosting a WPT Championship festival at Playground back in May, that we embraced the idea of returning for a second 2024 showing,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “Players will once again have a chance at three different WPT titles, including the most prestigious honor of being immortalized on the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup.”

The WPT Playground festival’s feature tournament, from Oct. 24-30, is the $3,500 CAD buy-in WPT Playground Championship event with the largest prize pool guarantee of the festival, CAD $1,500,000. In May, David Dongwoo Ko topped a field of 882 entrants to win CAD $434,900 and become a WPT Champion.

The WPT Prime Cup will also be in attendance. Play down for the CAD $1,150 buy-in WPT Prime Playground Championship event will occur Oct. 20-25, which boasts a CAD $800,000 guarantee. WPT Prime Montreal, in May, drew nearly 1,300 entrants and saw Jikai Zhang earn a first-place prize of CAD $165,070.

“I am thrilled to announce our excitement for the upcoming WPT Playground event this October,” said Playground’s Vice President of Gaming Operations Ryan Bevens. “Playground has always been a place where history is made with the WPT, and we are eager to continue this tradition as we welcome back the World Poker Tour. See you all real soon!”

A third WPT victory is up for grabs during the WPT 500 Championship event with a CAD $400,000 guarantee, which kicks off the festival with six-consecutive starting flights from Oct. 14 to Oct. 19, and ultimately concludes on Oct. 21.

WPT Global*, the official online poker website of the World Poker Tour, will play a large role in the WPT Montreal festival by running an online Day 1 for the WPT 500 and WPT Prime Playground events that will qualify players for a Day 2 berth to the live arena.
