WATCH: High Stakes Poker Triple Barrel Bluff For $800,000

Must read

Firing some chips in a bluff attempt is one thing, running a triple-barrel bluff for half a million is another. But that was the scenario playing out recently on the latest episode of PokerGO’s High Stakes Poker.

With blinds of $200-$400 with a $400 big blind ante and both a $2,000 and $4,000 straddle in place, Andrew Robl raised to $16,000 with AClub Suit JHeart Suit after the table folded around to him in the big blind. Sameh Elamawy called with 10Spade Suit 7Spade Suit from the straddle and Humboldt Mike also called with ADiamond Suit 10Diamond Suit from the re-straddle, bringing the pot to $49,500.

At this point, Robl had a 49% chance to win the pot with Elamawy at 28% and Mike at 21%, according to the Card Player Poker Odds Calculator. The flop fell QDiamond Suit 5Diamond Suit 4Spade Suit and Robl checked. Elamawy also checked and Mike bet $29,000 with the nut flush draw.

Robl folded. With no pair or real draw, Elamawy raised to $109,000. Mike checked his cards and thought a bit before making the call and bringing the pot to $267,500. He was still an 87% favorite to win the hand.

The JClub Suit then hit on the turn and Mike’s hand improved to a 95% favorite. Elamawy could win the pot only via bluff or by catching one of the sevens remaining in the deck. He silently stared at the flop as he considered his action while the rest of the table engaged in some chit chat.

Humboldt MikeEventually, Elamawy bet $182,000 – really putting the screws to his opponent. Mike counted out some chips and eventually made the call, bringing the pot to $631,500. The 8Club Suit fell on the river and Elamawy moved all in for the last of his $186,000 chips.

There wasn’t much fold equity, but with only ace-high, Mike was still left with a tough decision. He had the best hand but seemed to have few options considering his opponent’s aggression. He ultimately folded and gave Elamawy a congratulatory fist bump as his opponent collected the $817,500 pot.

But after some coaxing from others at the table, Elamawy showed the bluff – much to the chagrin of Mike.

Watch the hand play out below.

Elamawy, an Egyptian business owner and CEO of the Scratch Services loan servicing company, added significantly to his winnings on the show. He was also recently involved in a massive hand against Nikhil ‘Airball’ Arcott.

Humboldt Mike has become a regular on poker cash games this year. Readers may remember his hand against Phil Hellmuth in August on No Gamble No Future that left the Poker Brat ranting and quitting the show.
