MARIETTA — The fourth suspect involved in a September shooting in Marietta on Greene Street that ended with one woman wounded has been indicted.
Madison Marie Brant, 23, address not listed, was indicted Tuesday on three second-degree felony counts of felonious assault, one third-degree felony count of tampering with evidence and one fourth-degree felony count of inducing panic for her involvement in a Sept. 28 shooting on Greene Street.
Kylar James Wilson, 20, of Marietta, is listed as a co-defendant in the indictment. He was charged with the same counts as Brant, in addition to a first-degree felony count of attempted murder. He was arrested on that charge Oct. 1.
Marietta Police said last week they were able to determine Wilson is the one who shot the woman in the face.
A warrant was issued for Brant’s arrest Wednesday. The Marietta Police previously stated they had talked to the fourth suspect in the shooting but only had probable cause at that time to arrest three of the four.
It was unclear whether Brant had been arrested as of Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting took place around 12:55 a.m. Sept. 28. Marietta Police officers were responding to a call at Fourth and Putnam streets when they heard numerous shots. At the Advance Auto Parts parking lot at 200 Greene St., officers found a female had been shot in the face but was still conscious. Police discovered 38 shell casings at the scene and determined four people with four handguns were involved in the incident.
Brant and Wilson’s indictment contained some additional information about the shooting, stating that Wilson purposely tried to cause the death of the woman who was shot in the face and that Brant and Wilson knowingly caused or attempted to cause physical harm to the woman and to the other two suspects in the case, Ashton Dugan, 20, and Brendon Pierce 19, both of Parkersburg.
Dugan and Pierce were arrested Oct. 2 by the Parkersburg Police on one felony count each of attempted aggravated assault, one third-degree felony count of tampering with evidence and one second-degree misdemeanor count of obstructing official business. Dugan and Pierce have not yet been extradited to Ohio and are still being held without bond at the North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County.
No bond has been set yet for Wilson on the attempted murder charge, according to court records, and the Washington County Jail website shows he is in custody there.
“I commend the strong investigatory work of the Marietta Police Department,” Washington County Prosecutor Nicole Coil said. “Their dedicated efforts have resulted in the identification of all individuals involved in the shooting. We are fortunate that this type of incident is an aberration in the City of Marietta due to the presence and vigilance of the Marietta Police Department, which helps to deter these types of crimes.”
