Turkish Airlines and Air China have agreed a new codeshare deal to boost connectivity between the two countries.

The carriers said the “freesale” codeshare agreement would initially cover flights between Turkish Airlines’ base at Istanbul and the Chinese capital Beijing.

In a statement, Turkish Airlines said the deal “marks a significant milestone in the strategic collaboration between the two airlines and lays the groundwork for future expansions in their strong partnership”.

The carrier added that the freesale model would allow both airlines to offer “greater flexibility and more travel options to passengers”.

“Both airlines anticipate that this collaboration will contribute to a significant increase in passenger traffic, fostering mutual growth and benefiting the wider aviation industry,” said Turkish Airlines.
