Trenitalia to relaunch Milan-Paris service

Must read

Trenitalia will resume its high-speed service between Milan and Paris in April after an almost two-year hiatus due to a landslide in the Maurienne Valley.

The Frecciarossa service will relaunch on 1 April with two daily departures from Paris, at 7:30 and 15:20, and two departures from Milan at 6:25 and 15:53. Total journey time is approximately seven hours, with stops (on the Milan-bound route) at Lyon, Chambéry, Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, Modane, Oulx and Turin. Tickets are available for purchase via Trenitalia’s sales channels.

The rail operator this week also announced plans to launch a new Paris-Marseille high-speed service on 15 June. The service will operate four times daily, departing from Paris Gare de Lyon and stopping at Lyon Saint-Exupéry, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence before arriving at Marseille Saint-Charles. Total journey time is three hours and 20 minutes. Ticket sales will start from mid-March.

The two routes are part of Trenitalia’s growth strategy in France, where it claims to have served more than three million passengers since beginning operations in December 2021.

French national rail operator SNCF also plans to resume its high-speed service between Paris and Milan on 31 March, according to an announcement this week on X (formerly Twitter) by TGV Intercités managing director Alain Krakovitch.
