A new report from AirlineRatings.com names the world’s safest airlines for 2025. In creating its annual list, the site factors in everything from recent fatal accidents to safety initiatives to fleet age. Among full-service carriers, Air New Zealand was named the world’s safest airline. Qantas was ranked second and Cathay Pacific, Emirates and Qatar Airways were tied for third. When it comes to major U.S. carriers, Alaska Airlines remains the top-ranked airline for 2025, moving up one spot to No. 9 overall.
