Calling all dandy dog walkers: Louis Vuitton has something special in store with its spring/summer 2025 pre-collection – courtesy of Pharrell Williams, men’s creative director for the maison.
Pharrell has captured the essence of the urban dog-walking dandy’s cosmopolitan culture. Merging practicality with style – and celebrating the bonds between canines and their humans – Dog LVers reflects a discerning mentality that values excellence in all aspects of life, even leisure activities like dog walking.
Inspired by New York’s chic dog walkers, the collection’s daywear marries casual comfort with formal touches. Garments offer elegant lines and relaxed silhouettes, rooted in the preppy codes seen at dog shows. Key pieces include flared trousers and skate shorts crafted from tailored and workwear materials, presented in a neutral colour palette. Textural diversity enhances the garments, incorporating complex weaves and playful motifs. Our beloved canine companions are highlighted through prints and graphics, including a line of monogrammed dog accessories.
Damier Argyle, Dog LVers’ first chapter, introduces a new damier pattern reinterpreted as argyle, appearing in formats such as jacquard suits, trench coats and knitted jumpers. The motif is integrated into a range of pieces, from a forest green coat with a chevron lining, to fleece-lined puffer jackets. A shearling jacket features an intarsia Dalmatian pattern, playfully nodding to the resemblance between dogs and their owners.
Putting a fresh twist on trad dog show aesthetics, the second chapter, Best in Show, offers tailored suits adorned with rosette embroidery. Designs merge formal and casual codes, from tracksuits styled as formal wear, to workwear suits with elevated details. Stand-outs include a jacquard blouson embellished with a meta houndstooth motif, and a silk foulard jacket featuring a painting of an Italian greyhound.
Rosettes and crests embellish accessories including neckties, socks and a black velvet beret, while beanies in the Damier Argyle pattern and silk pocket squares showcase photographic dog portraits. Jewellery pieces, like an aged gold locket with damier engraving, are complemented by bracelets and neckpieces that merge classic Louis Vuitton motifs with playful designs.
