Must read

Maurice Hawkins won his 17th World Series of Poker Circuit gold ring in style, dragging the final pot of the 2025 WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Pompano Beach $400 40/40/40 Grand Master no-limit hold’em event with a nine-high straight flush in hearts.

Hawkins now sits in second place on the all-time WSOPC rings leaderboard, trailing only 18-time winner Ari Engel. This latest win put Hawkins one victory ahead of Daniel Lowery (16 rings). Joshua Reichard (15 rings) and Valentin Vornicu (13 rings) round out the tour’s top five.

This latest win came in a unique event which featured 40,000 in starting chips and 40-minute levels throughout, while requiring entrants to be at least 40 years of age to play. Hawkins, who is 45 years old, earned $16,137 as the champion.

Hawkins first took down a WSOPC ring back in the final month of 2008. Since then, he has managed to win multiple rings in a single calendar year four separate times (2009, 2016, 2017, 2019). Five of his 17 rings have been secured in WSOPC main events.

All told, Hawkins has cashed for just shy of $6 million in his tournament career, with roughly half of that total coming from his 166 cashes in WSOPC events. His $2.9 million in circuit earnings remains the highest mark of any WSOPC player, with Daniel Lowery’s $1.85 million being the next-largest total.

Hawkins has now made four final tables in 2025, with this being his first win of the year. With 632 Card Player Player of the Year points accrued so far, he is now sitting in 81st place in the 2025 POY standings presented by Global Poker.

Here is a look at the payouts and POY points awarded at the final table:
