National News Headlines for School Assembly

  • 21-year-old Sidharthan JS found hanging inside college hostel’ bathroom in Kerala. The boy was a veterinary student at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Wayanad. As  per the reports, the boy was allegedly physically and mentally tortured by his peers and activists of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) students’ outfit. CBI has decided to probe the incident and has booked 20 people under IPC sections related to criminal conspiracy, and more. 
  • Bengaluru witnesses an all time high temparature of 38 degrees during daytime. As per the reports, the temparature is currently three degrees more than it should be in April. The highest temparature record of Bengaluru in April stands at 39.2 degree celcius in 2016. Earlier, IMD had issued warning against heatwaves in several states of India. 
  • The world observes World Health Day on April 7 every year. The theme for World Health Day 2024 was ‘My Health, My Pride’. The idea behind the theme was to ensure that everyone gets complete access to quality health services, safe drinking water, good nutrition, clear air, decent working and environmental conditions, quality housing, and freedom from discrimination. The motive behind celebrating World Health Day is to raise awareness about pressing health conditions, promote healthy lifestyle in human beings, and ensure universal accessibility to quality health services. 
  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) is all set to conduct the Gagan Shakti drill with fighter jets on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway. The event will be conducted on April 7 and hence the ELF stretch of the highway will be closed from April 1 to April 10. The exercise will be conducted for 10 days in different locations across the country. The rehearsal drill was successfully conducted on Saturday for the show. 
  •  120 feet tall temple chariot collapses in Karnataka on Saturday, April 6, during the Madduramma Devi jatre festivities. The incident took place in Bengaluru city of Karnataka. As per the reports, cloud of dusts erupted after the fall of the chariot, creating panick among the people. No casualities have been reported from the incident, as of now.

  •  The Russian government declares federal emergency post the overflooding in Ural river of  Orenburg region. More than 4000 people and and 885 children were asked to evacuate by the regional government.
  • US warns allies about China providing geospatial intelligence to Russia. Us has said that China is upscaling it’s support towards Russia by providing them with satellite imagery for military purposes, microelectronics and machine tools for tanks,  optics, propellants, and increased space cooperation. Reports said that China’s support to Russia is to assist Moscow in its war against Ukraine. 
  • Pakistani armed forces have reported death of 6 security personnels and 12 militants in the past two days. The killings are the result of terror attacks and security operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan. As per officials, four militants were killed in two different incidents in Balochistan whereas eight militants were killed in Kot Sultan area.

  • Ravindra Balu Bharti, a finfluencer and youtuber has been asked to pay 12 Crores to an interest bearing Escrow Account. As per the reports, SEBI has instructed the Youtuber to return the huge sum which was unlawfully obtained by him. 
  • Srinivas Pallia has been appointed as the new CEO of the Wipro. The Indian IT giant on Saturday announced the resignation of Thierry Delaporte. Pallia has been approved as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and MD for five-year term.
