PokerStars Lowering the Value of Step 4 Power Path Tickets to $55

From October 14, 2024, PokerStars will reduce the value of the Step 4 Power Path ticket from $109 to $55. This latest change aims to create more opportunities for the players looking to win their way into major live and online events hosted by the operator.

Step 4 tickets can be used to enter various qualifiers awarding Bronze ($109), Silver ($2,300), and Gold ($10,300) passes. Players winning Silver and Gold passes can use them to play a myriad of PokerStars-hosted events like EPT and NAPT, and they can use a part of the value to cover accommodation and travel costs.

The only way to enter these qualifiers is by using Step 4 tickets, which means that players can’t buy in directly using cash. This is a deliberate move by PokerStars, aiming to limit the number of hardened pros in these qualifiers and give recreational players a much better chance at winning.

More Shots at Live Tournament Seats

With the latest change, PokerStars will be cutting the price of Step 4 tickets in half, which means that Step 3 qualifiers will be dishing out a significantly greater number of these tickets.

Starting on October 14, a Step 4 ticket will be valued at $55, and players can use it only to enter Power Path events. The $109 tickets, which are going away, could also be used to enter directly into the Sunday Million.

While some players may not be happy about this new limitation, the operator’s goal is to keep all tickets within the Power Path system, ensuring a greater total number of Power Path Passes are awarded. This is in the spirit of the promotion that seeks to primarily give recreational and semi-recreational players a fair shot at a seat in one of PokerStars live events.

A Path Open to All Players

The PokerStars Power Path has been very popular with the players, giving everyone an opportunity to qualify for a series like the European Poker Tour or the North American Poker Tour without breaking the bank.

There are three qualifying steps, with the first one available at just $0.50. Step 1 Spin & Goes run around the clock, and all players can claim a daily Step 1 ticket for free after playing a single cash hand or entering any real money tournament on the site.

For Step 2, players can choose between a $1 sit and go or a $1.50 MTT, while Step 3 is a $11 multi table tournament, awarding Step 4 tickets, which, as of October 14, will be valued at $55.

What’s important to note is that players can buy into Steps 1 — 3 as they wish, so you can start your journey at Step 1, or you can buy directly into Step 3. However, to enter the final Step 4 MTT, you have to win a Step 4 ticket. No direct buy-ins are allowed.

PokerStars offers a variety of Step 4 tournaments, offering different numbers of Gold, Silver, and Bronze passes. These passes target different events, like EPT, UKIPT, NAPT, etc., and represent bundles consisting of tournament buy-ins, travel and accommodation money, and special perks all qualifiers get to enjoy.

With the value of the Step 4 ticket reduced to $55, every $11 Step 3 qualifier will award more tickets, so everyone’s chances of taking a shot at winning a Pass to their favorite live series increases!
