PokerStars has come out with some exciting news for all poker fans, confirming that The Big Game on Tour will be coming back for a new season!
According to the press release, new loose cannons will be selected during the 2024 North American Poker Tour stop in Las Vegas, and the filming will take place immediately after.
The Big Game, one of the most popular poker TV shows, came back in 2023 for Season 3 (aka The Big Game on Tour Season 1). The entire season was filmed during last year’s NAPT event, and seven of ten episodes have been released on the PokerStars YouTube channel.
Everyone’s Invited!
Just like last year, PokerStars will give everyone an opportunity to take their shot at one of the two spots at The Big Game table.
Everything will go down during the Las Vegas NAPT stop in November. Candidates will have to go through the audition process, after which two of them will be staked to play against handpicked lineups.
Of course, the number of audition spots is limited and there are two ways to secure one of them. All players who win a 2024 NAPT Gold Pass will receive an automatic invitation. For everyone else, there will be a free qualifying tournament taking place at the Resorts World, and winners will lock up their spots for auditions taking place November 4 — 5.
During auditions, the panel of judges, led by the legendary duo of James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton will quiz the candidates about their background, poker knowledge, and motivation to play in The Big Game.
The selected candidate(s) will then be staked $50,000 to play 150 hands against a lineup consisting of famous poker pros and celebrities from other walks of life, with the goal of making a profit. As per the rules of The Big Game, a loose cannon can only keep a profit over the initial $50,000 after playing all 150 hands.
PokerStars Continues to Deliver
The Big Game returned in style this year, quickly becoming one of the most-watched poker shows despite its 12-year hiatus. This only proved that the audience loves the fundamental idea of the show, with an underdog taking on the pros and celebrities.
This season, which is still ongoing, saw the first loose cannon, Nikki Limo, fail on her quest for poker glory, but she put on a good show and had a lot of fun in the process, enjoying every moment of it. The second set of episodes, featuring Lily Newhouse, are being aired currently, and Lily is still in with a shot, despite a rough start.
PokerStars brought out quite a lineup for the big return of everyone’s favorite show, featuring the likes of Maria Ho, Phil Laak, Jen Tilly, Phil Hellmuth, Alan Keating, and Arden Cho.
At the moment, there is no information on what the lineups will look like for next season, but we can expect a nice mix of seasoned veterans and Big Game first-timers, which makes for the best viewing experience.
If you’d like to take a shot at being a loose cannon, winning a Gold Pass at PokerStars will guarantee you a spot at the audition. What happens after that is up to you and the impression you leave on the judges!
