Hey, everyone. I’m Kyle Anderson, PokerNews ambassador and Ontario resident. Here is an update on everything that’s happened in the poker world in Ontario in the last month.

Casino Niagara hosted their $1,000 Summer Main Event, which attracted 623 entries and awarded a $513,664 prize pool. That tournament was won by Alex B. for $96,000!
Their next big tournament will be the $1,000 Fall Main Event that will kick off on Tuesday, October 15, and run through Friday, October 18. There will be two starting flights on October 15 & 16 respectively with the surviving players from both flights returning for Day 2 action on October 17. If a third day is required, it will be held on October 18. Single table satellites will start on September 16 based on demand.
Speaking of Casino Niagara, they are running weekly tournaments at 12:30 p.m. local time every Wednesday at a $275 buy-in.
At Toronto’s CNE Casino, they are doing daily $200 qualifiers for their yearly event. The 40-day poker event by the CNE is presented by PokerStars Ontario this year and serves as a flagship event for the temporary casino. The CNE Casino can be found in the northeast corner of the Better Living Centre, Exhibition Place, Toronto.
Last year’s event was a sell-out, with a prize pool of $248,000. CNE management is anticipating another sell-out this year with an even bigger prize pool. Four semi-final qualifying rounds were held with the top ten players of each semi-final moving on to the finals being held on Friday, August 30, and Saturday, August 31.
Finally, the Pickering Casino Resort is now hosting poker tournaments. Every Tuesday in September they will hold a $250 NLH tournament with preregistration starting the Sunday before at 12:03 p.m. local time and must be done in person. Each tournament will be capped at 120 players with an alternate list available.
Players in the tournament will start with 20,000 in chips with an option for an additional 5,000 dealer add-on. Click here for more details.
