This Wednesday, celebrities from all walks of life take to the felt live in a bid to win the biggest slice of the $100,000 prizepool. It’s the season-ending CPT Championship and among the many legends from the world of sport to be playing are 10 of the National Football League’s finest. We’ve profiled all of the NFL superstars who are ready to raise and take it at the poker felt rather than the football field.
-
Alex Bachman
Most recently a wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, Alex Bachman won’t have far to travel as he hopes to make the most of home advantage by winning big at the CPT felt. The 28-year-old, who has also played for the L.A. Rams, Houston Texans and the New York Giants, signed for the Raiders in May. Bachman states on his social media that he is “Born to make mistakes, not to fake perfection”. Tonight, he’ll be hoping that his poker game is error-free and thrilling to watch, just like this:
-
John Johnson III
Also 28, John Johnson III is safety for the Los Angeles Rams and is the master of the ferocious interception. With an incredible 562 total tackles in professional football, Johnson spent two years with the Cleveland Browns but otherwise has been with The Rams. Shortly after his return to The Rams, Johnson fired shots at the Browns, showing that if he gets revenge on anyone at the poker felt tonight he may well be vocal about it!
-
Spice Adams
Anthony ‘Spice’ Adams is one on his own in the world of entertainment and the former defensive tackle, who played nine seasons in the NFL, is going to be box office all the way tonight. The father of four, who became well known after his distinguished sporting career for his ‘Ahaha’ meme, could well be prone to hiding behind others with the goods tonight. Watch out, he’s guaranteed to get spicy!
-
Adrian Peterson
The former NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) of 2012, Adrian Peterson is a popular former running back who once became just the fifth player in NFL history to run for over 3,000 yards in his first two professional seasons. Peterson was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week nine times in his career…so will he go on the attack tonight in the Celebrity Poker Tour Championship?
-
Brice Butler
A renowned former wide receiver for the Oakland Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins, Brice Butler is also a keen golfer and even has his own YouTube channel on the subject. Never afraid to call out someone if they’re not the leader of the pack, Butler can be seen here being more controversial than other NFL players on Wednesday night.
So the questions stands: will Butler be his table’s ‘captain’, and the player dominating the action, or will he stay on the fringes of the field waiting to pounce?
-
Damarious Randall
An all-rounder, Damarious Randall made it to the First-team All-Pac in 2014. He later became the most retweeted NFL player in history when he offered to purchase NFL jerseys for anyone who retweeted one of his posts if the Cleveland Cavaliers won the Championship. They failed in that attempt and Randall escaped a costly gesture. Will he be donating at the felt, or preying on any charity that comes his way? We can’t wait to find out.
-
Kenyan Drake
The 30-year-old former running back for eight seasons in the NFL is excited to be on the roster for the CPT Championship tonight having previously starred for the Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, and Green Bay Packers. Retiring earlier this year in July, Drake had Mike Tyson to win the big fight last week… which was eventually won on points by Jake Paul. Drake will need to pick his spots better tonight.
-
Patrick Peterson
Most recently playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Patrick Peterson is a three-time First-team All-Pro player (2011, 2013 and 2015) and has twice been rated as part of the United States best 10 players in a season by ESPN. A passionate father of two, Peterson is an exemplary sportsman who has inspired a generation of players and is related to five other professional NFL players as a cousin! Peterson once won the Chuck Bednarik Award as the best defensive player in the country so will he defend his big blind tonight, or make a defensive pass instead?
-
Prince Amukamara
The 35-year-old Prince Amukamara is a former professional football cornerback who played nine seasons in the NFL and officially retired in 2023 when he signed a poignant ‘single day’ contract with the New York Giants, the team who originally drafted him back in 2011 when he was second cornerback pick behind – you’ve guessed it – Patrick Peterson.
Who’ll come out on top tonight on the Celebrity Poker Tour? That’s anyone’s guess. One thing is for sure – Amukamara’s faith is sure to play a part. He once said that “…the feeling of winning the Super Bowl went away pretty quickly. I don’t think about it much unless people remind me. … But to be a Christian, that’s a daily thing and that’s what I think about the most.” Amen to that!
-
Hayes Pullard
Last, but by no means least, is the only player of the 10 NFL stars taking to the felt tonight who became a coach as well as a player in the NFL. Starring as a linebacker for the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, Arizona Cardinals and the Philadelphia Eagles, Pullard has since coached at USC as a quality control analyst and as of 2021 has been a defensive assistant for the New York Jets. Pullard was originally drafter after writing an open letter to the 32 NFL teams in The Player’s Tribune, and if he shows the same initiative at the felt tonight could be one to keep an eye on.
