Another NAPT in Sin City is in the books. The return of the NAPT Las Vegas was a success last year that it was a no brainer that PokerStars hosted another series at Resorts World with 29 different events. A pair of American pros claimed high roller titles and British pro Nick Marchington, who made a name for himself at the 2019 WSOP Main Event final table, emerged victorious in the NAPT Las Vegas Main Event.
The $10,300 buy-in NAPT Las Vegas High Roller attracted 1700 runners and a prize pool with $1.65 million. The top 23 places paid out. Sam Soverel banked $385,700 for defeating Nichlas Seward heads-up for the victory and outlasting a final six that included Barry Woods, David Coleman, Adam Adler, and Valentyn Shabelnyk. Also cashing in the $10K High Roller were Danny Wong, Brian Altman, Ryan Hohner, David Stamm, Ernest Bush, Scott Seiver, Martin Zamani, and Lily Kiletto.
The $25K High Roller included a tough field of 60 runners who generated a prize pool worth $1.44 million. Only the top eight places paid out. Stephen Song banked $439,400 when he edged out Sean Winter for the title. The rest of the players who went deep and cashed included Edward Sebesta, Jim Collopy, Elias Gutierrez, Thomas Eychenne, Brock Wilson, and Paul Jager.
The $5,300 buy-in NLH Main Event had a $3 million guaranteed prize pool. It attracted 89 5runners and a prize pool worth $4,340,750. The top 127 places paid out with most of the cheesecake set aside to the champion. Among those who cashed and went deep included… Matthew Wantman, Jared Jaffe, David Baker, Maria Konnikova, Brent Hart, Victor Paredes, Brian Yoon, Kitty Kuo, Jonathan Tamayo, Justin Liberto, Eric Blair, Darren Rabinowitz, David Peters, Jonathan Borenstein, Upeshka De Silva, Louise Francoeur, Dan Sepiol, David Coleman, Martin Jacobson, Jessica Vierling, Bin Weng, Nicky Pupilo, Joe Serock, John Monnette, Ryan Hughes, Jim Collopy, Justin Saliba, Erik Seidel, John Racener, and Brian Lee.
The final table included Nick Marchington, Joel Micka, Jeff Madsen, Marco Johnson, Masato Yokosawa, Brock Wilson, Matt Affleck, and Yang Li. Li was the first player to hit the bricks in ninth place, followed by Matt Affleck in eighth place, Brock Wilson in seventh, and Mas Yokosawa in sixth.
Marco Johnson was picked off in fourth place, followed by Jeff Madsen in third. The heads-up battle was between Joel Micka and Nick Marchington. When the dust settled, Micka headed to the rail in second place which paid out $478K.
Marchington shipped the NPAT Las Vegas Main Event for $765,200, which is his second-largest score to date. He now has well over $3.3 million in tournament earnings, which included over $1.5 million for a seventh-place finish at the 2019 WSOP Main Event (won by Germany’s Hossein Ensan). Earlier in 2024, Marchington won an event at the Grosvenor UK Poker Open 2024 in Coventry.
There was some other action in the other events including Ryan Huges shipping a PLO event and the one where Will the Thrill entered the wrong tournament (a $360 buy-in affair) and won it.
