LONDON — The spring 2025 edition of Shanghai Fashion Week will see a mix of homegrown talents and global players including Moncler, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith and Knwls making buzz amid a challenging market condition.
Chinese designer and former top model Lv Yan’s label Comme Moi will kick start the nine-day fashion marathon on Oct. 9, while Vivienne Westwood will close the official runway calendar on Oct. 17.
Fashion designer Angel Chen, who has moved away from the limelight in the past few years to study endangered crafts around China, will make her runway return with the Chinese tea drink brand Chagee on Oct. 15.
Other must-sees this season include Shushu/Tong, Mark Gong, Oude Waag, Ya Yi, J E Cai, Xiao Li, Staffonly, and newcomers including Central Saint Martin fresh graduate Joyce Bao, Ili Node, Hengdi Wang and Aqohill, a craft-heavy Taobao fashion label that has amassed a dedicated online following since founding in 2017. These designers will show between the Xintiandi main venue and the Labelhood location by Rockbund.
Designers including Samuel Gui Yang, Jacques Wei, and Xander Zhou will present their new collections off-schedule during the period as well.
But the anticipation won’t end there, as Moncler, an event partner of Shanghai Fashion Week, will draw a global crowd to the city for the reveal of its latest rendition of the Genius project on Oct. 19.
Meanwhile, Paul Smith will unveil its new flagship at the Fosun-owned Bund Finance Center on Oct. 13. London-based emerging fashion label Knwls will host a pop with concept store ENG in downtown Shanghai on Oct. 11.
More on the event side, Harrods will continue its Hives event at Fotografiska Shanghai. Several conferences, including Shaway Yeh‘s Shan Future Forum, will take place throughout the week as well, touching on topics around sustainability, innovation and creativity.
