Reaching the final table of a poker tournament does not guarantee you success. However, combining a big stack with a sprinkling of run-good and some solid play often yields results. That is precisely what “Momentum288” did in the latest instalment of the 888poker $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event. They reached the eight-handed final table as the overall leader and emerged victoriously after a two-hour battle at 888poker’s virtual felt.
Day 1 attracted 953 entries, resulting in a small overlay for the online poker site. The curtain came down on the first day’s action with only eight players in contention for the title. The largest bounties had already been claimed, with “Armeniashka” and “Kassir27” opening envelopes containing $3,000 payouts.
Germany’s “kosmow1” may have finished 182nd and missed out on some of the regular prize pool, but the $10,000 jackpot mystery bounty they pulled more than makes up for that shortfall.

The eight finalists gathered at the final table under the watchful eyes of the 888poker Twitch community. 888poker ambassador Nick Eastwood joined Nick Wealthall in the commentary booth, casting his expert opinion on the play in front of him.
It took 25 minutes for the first casualty to be confirmed, and it was “leblond1996” who was that unfortunate soul. They open-shoved for 7.6 big blinds from the cutoff with queen-jack, and “Aberdeen2000” called from the big blind with pocket kings. A draw-heavy, jack-high flop gave “leblond1996” some hope, but the pocket kings held, improving to a set on the river, to send the final table’s first player to the sidelines.
“Aberdeen2000” was the next player sent packing despite winning that pot. They picked up pocket kings again on the very next hand. 888poker regular “BrittneySpew” min-raised on the button, “Aberdeen2000” called the raise with kings in the small blind, with “TTeixeirAA” folding in the big blind. An all-spade flop saw “Aberdeen2000” check-call a continuation bet on the flop. It was a similar action on the offsuit deuce turn. A brick on the river completed the board, and “Aberdeen2000” checked again before calling off their 11.4 big blind stack when they were shoved on. “BrittneySpew” turned over ten-trey of spades for a flopped flush, and “Aberdeen2000” was eliminated.

“BrittneySpew” claimed another mystery bounty soon after, that of “Primafintlos.” After min-raising under the gun with king-jack, “BrittneySpew” called the 6.8 big blind three-bet shove “Primafintlos” made from the big blind with ace-four. A king on the flop sent the Swede to the showers.
Fifth place went to “SayPlease” after a clash with “AzaAzaAza” didn’t go to plan. “AzaAzaAza” min-raised under the gun with ace-ten, “SayPlease” called in the big blind, and the flop fell ten-high. “SayPlease” check-raised all-in for 12.2 big blinds after “AzaAzaAza” continued, and was called. Neither the turn nor river came to the rescue of the at-risk player and “SayPlease” said goodbye.
Brazil’s “TTeixeirAA”‘s stack had dwindled to less than five big blinds after paying the small blind, and they looked down at ace-jack facing a min-raise from “BrittneySpew” on the button. “TTeixeirAA” three-bet all-in, and was snapped off by “BrittneySpew” holding pocket jacks. A jack on the turn left “TTeixeirAA” drawing dead, and the final table was suddenly down to only three players.

Three-handed play spanned 30 minutes, ending with the demise of “BrittneySpew.” From the small blind, “BrittneySpew” jammed 16 big blinds with ace-queen, and “Momentum288” called with king-ten in the big blind. The board was king to “BrittneySpew” right up to the river, which is when the king of clubs arrived and sent the talented Romanian to the rail.
“Momentum288” started the heads-up battle against “AzaAzaAza” with a 64.4 to 24.9 big blind chip advantage, and it around 20 minutes for them to get their hands on the title. The final hand saw “Momentum288” move all-in with king-trey of diamonds, and the short-stacked “AzaAzaAza” call off their last 8.5 big blinds with ace-four. A king on the flop left “AzaAzaAza” drawing to three outs or running cards, but two queens filled the board, and busted the plucky “AzaAzaAza” in second place.
The champion led from start to finish and turned their $109 investment into $8,529 and the title of 888poker $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event champion.
