Lufthansa’s new Allegris cabins take flight this week

Must read

The first flights featuring Lufthansa’s new Allegris cabins are taking off this week.

The first Airbus A350 fitted with 10 new Allegris seat options took flight on Wednesday (1 May) from Munich to Vancouver, while a second flight on Thursday (2 May) from the German city to Toronto will also feature the new cabin.

Lufthansa first released details of its €2.5 billion long-haul upgrade last year, which includes a new First Class Suite Plus, several new Allegris seat options in business class as well as a new premium economy seat.

The carrier said the newly refitted aircraft will alternate on selected flights on the above two Canadian routes “in the first few months” and as more A350 aircraft are returned to the carrier this summer, the new cabin will be rolled out on routes to Chicago and Montreal.

From “late summer”, flights with the Allegris cabin on board will also be operated to Shanghai and San Francisco, according to the carrier. These destinations will “initially replace the existing destinations”, Lufthansa said in a statement.

Allegris flight bookings for the carrier’s winter schedule will also be made available from summer. Further details on price and benefits for status customers will be published “at that time”.

When booking Allegris business class seats, travellers can reserve a specific seat ahead of travel. A ‘classic seat’ reservation is free of charge, however advance reservation of seats with “additional comfort”, such as the business class suite with a personal wardrobe and minibar, the extra space seat, the privacy seat by the window and the extra-long bed of up to 2.2 metres, will incur an additional charge.
