Kyle’s Cast:

It’s another mild morning across the area with temperatures in the 50s and 60s due to light northeast winds, cloud cover, and rain. The wind should remain lighter today, and temperatures will climb into the 70s later this afternoon. Widespread rain and thunderstorms remain ongoing this morning as a weak frontal boundary is slowly pushing east. This soaker of a system today will provide some beneficial rainfall for many of us, but it could also lead to some spots of localized flooding, and there are currently several advisories related to flooding in effect through later today. Severe weather is possible later today into tonight in southwestern areas with large hail and damaging winds being the hazards to watch out for. The rain and storms should move out tonight, and most of tomorrow appears to be quiet. Late tomorrow, though, another shortwave trough will provide our next chance at seeing some storms with western areas favored for more severe weather. On Sunday, a similar scenario will unfold where most of the day will be dry, but additional rain and thunderstorms appear likely late Sunday. Severe weather will be possible again with central areas favored. The rain should clear out by Monday, and we’ll get a short break until Tuesday when the next shortwave trough moves through and provides another round of rain and storms. The forecast appears to settle down some towards the middle of next week. Temperatures will be heating up after today with highs in the 80s.
