Jericho headlines AEW ROH Global Wars card at Grand Slam Australia taping

Must read

El Nueve, as Ring of Honor World champion Chris Jericho has dubbed himself, told us he was headed to Australia. At the time the only AEW show happening Down Under was Grand Slam Australia, so we assumed he’d be doing something on that Feb. 15 event in Brisbane.

But shortly after the Feb. 12 Dynamite ended, we learned that AEW will also be taping something called AEW ROH Global Wars on Saturday. There’s no word on when fans who won’t be at Brisbane Entertainment Center will be able to see Global Wars (Grand Slam Australia will air tape-delayed on TNT & Max after NBA All-Star Saturday coverage ends on those platforms at sometime after 10:30 p.m. Eastern). We also don’t know if the four matches announced so far for Global Wars are to entice more ticket-buyers, or as a make-good to existing ones who thought Grand Slam Australia would be more PPV than loaded Collision replacement. We could also ask if Global Wars was the plan all along, or if it was just decided on.

At some point we’ll find out how to watch Global Wars — probably on Ring of Honor’s weekly HonorClub show. We may get some answers to those other questions too, if they matter to you. But we know that Jericho and his Learning Tree Associates Big Bill & Bryan Keith will headline the Global Wars card when it tapes along with Grand Slam Australia this weekend.

Their Trios match was set-up on Dynamite last night after Jericho’s “showdown” with Bandido.

It’s joined by three others, all of which are ROH title tilts:

• The Learning Tree (Chris Jericho, Big Bill & Bryan Keith) vs. Bandido & The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum)

• Athena vs. Alex Windsor for the AEW Women’s championship

• Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara vs. MxM Collection (Mason Madden & Mansoor) for the ROH Tag Team titles

• Lee Moriarty (c) vs. Robbie Eagles for the ROH Pure championship

Spoilers for those matches and the entire Grand Slam Australia show should be available early Saturday U.S. time.
