James “Jim” Seager

Must read

James “Jim” Seager, 77, of Hollis, died July 23, 2024, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston following complications due to lymphoma. Jim was the youngest of four, born on December 19th, 1946, to Ruth (Howe) and Alton B. Seager of Hollis. He was the husband of Judith (Ravenelle) Seager of Hampton. Jim graduated in 1969 from UNH and then enlisted in the air force and became an avionics specialist, stationed at bases in England and Thailand. Post discharge, he was hired by Sanders and trained as a computer programmer, eventually becoming a database administrator working at Raytheon, Putnam Investments, and finally retiring from Market Basket HQ in Tewksbury, MA. In his retirement years, he became a student bus driver for the Hollis Brookline school system and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow colleagues at the bus barn.

Jim was a life-long member of the Congregational Church of Hollis where he held many posts and was still active. He was a member of the Hollis Seniors whom he met with regularly at the Lawrence Barn. He was also formerly a member of the town’s cemetery commission. Those who passed before him include his sister Roberta Seager, his oldest brother David Seager and David’s wife Linda Lou, and his in-laws Roland and Janile Ravenlle. Besides his wife of 45 years, survivors include his oldest daughter Alison (Michael) Golosovker and their daughter Everly of Hollis, with whom he made his home. He also leaves his youngest daughter Jocelyn “JR” Seager of Manchester. Other survivors include his sister-in-law Diane (James) Falls, brothers-in-law Daniel Ravenelle, and Charles (Jeanine) Ravenelle. Finally, Jim is survived by his remaining sibling, John S. Seager and his wife Linda (Simonds) Seager who, along with Jim’s wife and daughters regularly visited and comforted him throughout his hospital ordeal. His beloved daughters were by his side when he passed peacefully.

In his earlier days, Jim enjoyed golf, poker, bowling, basketball, and riding his motorcycle alongside his friend Chip Harris. While Jim was great at being present for his daughters’ activities throughout their lives, he’ll be fondly remembered best for attending their high school softball games as the loudest, baritone cheerleader yelling “GO TEAM” throughout each game.

Finally, the family would like to thank Rev. Tanya Stormo Rasmussen and the members of the Congregational Church of Hollis, friends, relatives, and colleagues for all of their support and well-wishes.
