In a groundbreaking, multi-year collaboration centered on advancing 3D content for the Meta Quest virtual reality (VR) headset, James Cameron’s Lightstorm Vision venture has joined forces with Meta, aiming to revolutionize the entertainment industry by expanding access to 3D production tools and delivering innovative content.
Cameron expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, revealing how Meta’s technology captivated him. I was amazed by its transformational potential and power, and what it means for content creators globally. I’m convinced we’re at a true, historic inflection point,

Known for pushing the boundaries of technology and storytelling through his work on films like Avatar and Titanic, Cameron is now set to help scale the development of world-class 3D entertainment experiences alongside Meta. These projects will include live sports, concerts, feature films, and television series featuring prominent intellectual properties (IP) on Meta Quest, which Lightstorm Vision will use as its exclusive mixed reality (MR) hardware platform.
Meta highlighted the growing interest in immersive technology, emphasizing the importance of this collaboration, saying, More people are using virtual and mixed reality headsets than ever before, opening up exciting new possibilities for immersive storytelling. the company stated. Although specific projects remain under wraps, the partnership aims to co-produce a steady stream of original 3D content while making production tools more accessible to creators across the industry.
Cameron, who also serves on the board of rising AI company Stability AI, is leveraging his experience to address challenges in 3D production.
