In what comes as a good news for Indian tourists, they will soon be able to visit Russia without a visa. According to Evgeny Kozlov, Chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee, this agreement will boost the number of Indian travellers in the Russian capital.
According to reports by ET, he said, “It is predicted that thanks to the agreement, which is now under development, the number of travellers from India coming to the Russian capital will significantly increase.”
India has already emerged as a key market for Russia – with over 28,500 Indian travellers visiting Moscow in the first half of 2024. This is like a 1.5 times increase from the same period last year. “In the first half of 2024, 28,500 Indian travellers visited the Russian capital, which is 1.5 times more than in the same period last year,” Kozlov added.
Meanwhile, earlier, a travel program, “Russian Holidays: From the Capital of Russia to the Capital of Siberia,” aimed to introduce Indian travellers to the vibrant metropolis of Moscow and the beauty of Siberia was launched. The collaboration between the Moscow City Tourism Committee and Aeroflot aimed at strengthening tourism ties between the two countries. The introduction of e-visas has already simplified the travel process, making it easier for Indian tourists to explore the country.
With a blend of history, culture, and modernity through iconic landmarks like the Kremlin, Red Square, and St. Basil’s Cathedral, Moscow is looking to lure explorers, especially Indian travellers to its world-class museums, theatres, and a thriving nightlife scene. The new initiative focuses on showcasing Moscow’s appeal to Indian tourists, highlighting its diverse culinary scene, shopping experiences, and opportunities for cultural exchange.
