As per the records, previously, nearly 99% of applications were approved, whereas after the new norms were implemented, the percentage have significantly dropped due to record visa rejection rates, leaving travelers frustrated and financially burdened.

As previously reported, the United Arab Emirates implemented strict documentation requirements to guarantee adherence to its visa policies. In addition to confirmed return tickets and evidence of hotel arrangements, applicants must now present papers such as the host’s rental agreement, Emirates ID, and resident visa if they are staying with family. Additionally, if staying in a hotel, tourists must produce their PAN card and bank bills for the last three months with a minimum balance of INR 50,000.

The rejection rate for Indian tourist visa applications has jumped from 1-2% to 5-6% daily, according to travel agents. Reports add that even the applications that have been meticulously prepared, with all required documents, are being denied. This trend has caused substantial financial losses for travellers, and this has led to losing money on non-refundable visa fees, pre-booked flights, and accommodations.

Also, those travelling in groups have been particularly affected, where a single rejection disrupts the plans of an entire group.

Both applicants and travel agents have voiced their concerns about these more stringent regulations. Travel agencies have reported instances in which large groups or families had to cancel their plans because they were rejected, resulting in substantial losses.

The uncertainty and increased rejections have created widespread anxiety among Indian travellers, who once viewed Dubai as a seamless destination for tourism.

Things to remember

To ensure that your visa doesn’t get rejected, applicants are advised to double-check all documentation and ensure they meet the UAE’s updated requirements. Seeking guidance from experienced travel agents and applying well in advance may help mitigate some of the risks.
