Get Ready for the PokerStars at The Hippodrome Winter Series

Must read

The first PokerStars at The Hippodrome series of 2025 is right around the corner, with the Winter Series running in London from January 30 to February 2. Although the Winter Series only spans four days, that quartet is crammed full of poker action, including a £550 buy-in Main Event.

Head to The Hippodrome in London’s Leicester Square at noon on January 30 if you want the chance to play in the £1,100 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller for a fraction of its cost. That’s when a £125 satellite shuffles up and deals.

The £1,100 High Roller kicks off at 2:00 p.m. GMT on January 30, with an £85 buy-in satellite to the £550 Main Event scheduled to run from 6:00 p.m. GMT. The last time The Hippodrome ran a £1,100 buy-in tournament outside of the UKIPT was in April 2023, when Sunil Mistri outlasted 140 opponents in the April Mega Series Main Event. Mistri banked £32,825 that day.

The first of three £550 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event flights commences at noon on January 31. Main Event players start armed with 30,000 chips and play to 30-minute levels. Unlimited re-entries are permitted during late registration, and each flight ends when only 15% of the field remains. Those in the top 15% head into Day 2 on February 2 with a min-cash locked in.

Expect a decent turnout for this Main Event because a similar-sized PokerStars London Poker Series in July 2022 saw over 340 players turn out in force. Portugal’s Henrique Mendes came out on top and received £33,550 of the £172,660 prize pool.

The Winter Series comes hot on the heels of the Women’s Winter Festival held in November 2024. Charlie Waters triumphed in the £1,000 High Roller for £10,020, with Maria Lampropulos crowned the Women’s Winter Main Event champion, turning £400 into £20,000. Here’s hoping plenty of ladies head to The Hippodrome in late January for the Winter Series, and not only for the £220 Women’s event.
