European Poker Tour Announces Malta And Prague Stops For 2025

Must read

Two more stops have been revealed to the 2025 PokerStars European Poker Tour schedule, both falling in the final few months of the year.

The first of the two additions is the 2025 EPT Malta festival, which will run from Oct. 1-12 at the InterContinental Malta. This stop is returning after a nine-year hiatus, with Belarus’ Aliaksei Boika taking down the most recent running of the EPT Malta main event held back in 2016.

While the full schedule for the 12-day series has not yet been released, dates for two key events have been made public. The EPT Malta €5,300 main event will run Oct. 6-12, and will be preceded by the PokerStars Open €1,100 main event from Oct. 1-6.

PokerStars Open was announced late in 2024, a move that will replace several popular existing regional tours while opening the door to hosting similar events in new markets.

“Our PokerStars Open stops are going to provide players with incredible experiences, with each location having its own unique feel that will come together as a European series that both ladders up to the EPT and stand up in their own right. We know that players enjoy traveling to other countries for tournaments so we’ve decided to make the move to the PokerStars Open as it gives us a lot more flexibility to throw million-guaranteed events anywhere in Europe, not just where we have established national tours,” said Cédric Billot, Associate Director of Live Events Operations at PokerStars.

This year’s EPT Prague series is slated for Dec. 3-14 at the Hilton Prague. Last year the €5,300 main event drew a record-setting field of 1,458 entries, with Portugal’s Pedro Marques capturing the title and the top prize of $1,021,257 USD.

The PokerStars Open in Prague is set for Dec. 3-8, with the main event running Dec. 8-14.

With the cancellation of EPT Paris this year due to ‘unforeseen changes in French government policies’, there are currently four EPT stops planned for 2025. EPT Monte Carlo will take place from Apr. 30 – May 10, while EPT Barcelona runs Aug. 18-31.
