Childish Gambino fans are being fed right now.
Not only has the elusive musician just dropped Atavista—the finished version of 2020’s stunning record 3.15.20—but he’s promised there’s a new album, Bando Stone in the New World, coming later this summer.
In support of both records, Gambino—the musical persona of multi-hyphenate actor, comedian, producer, director, and rapper Donald Glover—is heading out on The New World Tour.
Kicking off in Oklahoma City on August 11, Gambino swings by Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on September 23. Fans in other parts of the country can catch him at shows in Toronto, Edmonton, and Calgary. After wrapping the North American leg in Chicago in early November, the tour will take him to Europe and the UK, before heading Down Under in the early part of 2025.
Fans can expect a chameleonic performance from the multi-Grammy winning performer, who seemingly creates masterpieces with the same frequency that regular people try to take up CrossFit with. His 2016 R&B category win for “Redbone” presaged huge victories at the awards not long after, with 2018’s “This is America” sweeping Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap/Sung Performance, and Best Music Video.
Artist presale begins on May 15, while general sale for the tour begins May 17. Fans can sign up here to receive a presale code.
The tour may well be Glover’s last, as he announced in April that he plans to retire the Childish Gambino persona after dropping two more records. Who knows what the genius might do next?
