Hurricane Milton made landfall near around 8:30pm Wednesday in Siesta Key, FL as a major hurricane. It’ll continue moving across Florida and back into the Atlantic. Even though we will be far to the north of the core of the storm, there will be some minimal impacts for the Lowcountry. The main concern will be coastal flooding, rough ocean conditions, and some gusty winds. The highest tides looks to be Thursday just before 2pm and Friday around 3pm, when moderate saltwater flooding is forecast to occur. This could result in road closures, in the normal spots. Thursday morning, areas could see some raindrops make their way away from Miltons’ center, but mostly limited to the coast. After Milton moves out into the Atlantic, high pressure builds in for the weekend, which will bring plenty of sunshine, little to no rain chances, and highs in the middle 70s to lower 80s! Overnight lows will be a little chillier than this time of year, feeling a bit more like mornings in November. Saturday morning will be the coolest with the lows in the lower to middle 50s, even some upper 40s. Around next Tuesday, a cold front slides through bringing a slight chance of rain, then drying out with more Fall-like temperatures.
Milton is currently moving across Florida and headed back out into the Atlantic Ocean. Hurricane Leslie remains out in the central Atlantic and is no threat to land. A tropical wave moving off the coast of Africa has a low chance of development. There is also an area in the southwestern Atlantic Ocean with a low chance of development as it moves east-northeastward.
Overnight, plenty of clouds, nice and mild, lows 61-67.
Thursday, mostly cloudy with some showers, breezy, highs 75-77.
Thursday night, clear skies and becoming cooler, lows 53-50.
