Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday said an inquiry will be ordered and a special drive will also be launched soon to remove encroachments on full-tank level (FTL) and buffer zones of all water bodies in every district.
The CM was speaking at a review meeting in Mahabubabad after touring the rain-battered areas in the district on Tuesday. Revanth also met rain-affected people and inspected the condition of houses inundated in rainwater.
“Nature has taught us a lesson about what happens if you destroy it.Someone needs to take action against encroachments of water bodies. Yes, I am new to the job of CM when compared to my former counterparts, but someone has to start. Let us begin the special drive against encroachments. Rain-affected people told me in Khammam that the town was flooded due to encroachments of water bodies. An ex-minister of BRS (P Ajay Kumar) has allegedly encroached and constructed buildings on FTL and buffer zones of water bodies. I want to ask T Harish Rao whether they will cooperate in demolishing his encroachments?” he said at the meeting.
All the collectors were told to set up a system on the lines of Hyderabad Disaster Response Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA), get court cases cleared and remove encroachments. He said the inquiry order will enable them to list out encroachments irrespective of any influential person.
“List out the names of officials too who are responsible for giving permissions on FTL and take action. Maintain a blue book containing data of areas affected by rains for taking up flood prevention,” he said. Protection of lakes and prevention of flooding was the top-most priority of the govt, he said.
WHERE IS KCR?
Where is the leader of the opposition K Chandrasekhar Rao? Neither did he come out during 10 years of BRS govt term nor now. His son, KTR, is in a foreign country and posting messages on social media, trying to blame the Congress. People of the state will teach them a lesson -Revanth Reddy
