NEW MARTINSVILLE – ArtsLink, the Arts Council for Wetzel and Tyler Counties, is seeking new board members to help think of new ideas for arts programming in the region.
Officials said the board is thriving and active, but is looking for new members and also new ideas from supporters as well.
“The ArtsLink board is large and its members have always worked congenially,” said Scarlet Hood, president of the ArtsLink board. “We toss around lots of ideas and are constantly seeking ways to support local artists and arts activities.”
The new terms last three years and begin in January. The board meets at 5:30 p.m. the fourth Monday of each month at the Francis Creative Arts Center, 202 Maple Ave., New Martinsville. Meetings are brief and open to the public. The 2025 annual meeting is slated for 5:30 p.m. Jan. 27.
People interested in joining the board can submit a resume to ArtsLink, Inc., 202 Maple Ave., New Martinsville, or via e-mail at artslink@artslinkwv.org.
“A major goal is to support young people. In addition to hosting art exhibits for artists of all ages, ArtsLink provides residencies and workshops for area schools in connection with Concert Series events,” the board notes.
“With a membership currently hovering around 300, ArtsLink remains one of the most active in the state and often receives praise from the state arts staff for its work.
“Financial support for ArtsLink’s programs is made possible with assistance from West Virginia Northern Community College, WETZ/WYMJ Radio, EQT Foundation and Antero Foundation.
Each summer ArtsLink hosts a Missoula Children’s Theater activity. This year’s play will be the Wizard of Oz. Auditions are slated for 9:45 a.m. July 21. To pre-register, call 304-455-2278.
