Angela Jordison is approaching $1.5 million in career tournament earnings, with her most recent deep run on the live circuit resulting in her largest score yet. The Oregon resident defeated a field of 861 entries in the 2024 Mid-States Poker tour East Chicago Ameristar $1,110 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event, securing $161,513 and the title.

“This has just really been on my bucket list. I love this tour, I love the price point, I love the staff, I love everything about it. Every year on January 1st I write down ‘Win an MSPT’,” Jordison told MSPT reporters after coming out on top.

This was Jordison’s eighth recorded victory and 168th cash. Prior to this win, her top score had been the $151,544 she earned as the third-place finisher in the 2022 World Series of Poker $1,000 no-limit hold’em freezeout.

This was Jordison’s first title in a MSPT main event, having finished fifth at three prior final tables before breaking through with this win.

In addition to the trophy and the money, Jordison was also awarded 912 C”ard Player Player of the Year”:https://www.cardplayer.com/poker-players/player-of-the-year/%20 points as the champion. With 1,022 total points, she now sits just outside the top 500 in the 2024 POY race standings presented by Global Poker.

Plenty of big names joined Jordison in running deep in this event, including three-time bracelet winner Ari Engel (30th), current MSPT POY points leader Chris Meyers (28th), recent MSPT Hollywood Casino St. Louis champion Chris Audrain (24th), MSPT Hall of Famer member Rob Wazwaz (23rd), Sarah Stefan (16th), and 2023 MSPT POY award winner Umut Ozturk (14th).

The top 12 finishers all earned five-figure payouts in this event. Runner-up Miguel Martinez walked away with $99,395 for his efforts. He got all-in with pocket tens leading the A-7 suite of Jordison preflop in the final hand. Jordison flopped the nut flush draw though, and it came in on the turn. Martinez had outs to a full house on the river, but it brought no help and he was eliminated in second place. This was his second runner-up finish in a MSPT main event this year, having also fallen one spot shy of the title in this year’s Minnesota Poker State Championship.

Here is a look at the payouts and POY points awarded at the final table:
