ABS-CBN rolls out unified website for entertainment, news

Must read

The Kapamilya network has unified its flagship properties under a single online home.

On Thursday, November 21, users attempting to access ABS-CBN’s entertainment, news, sports, and lifestyle brand Metro.Style began to be redirected to a new uniform resource locator (URL).

For those checking on ABS-CBN News, when checking on its now-former URL at news.abs-cbn.com, they will be sent instead to the new link at abs-cbn.com/news.

Likewise, the main page of ABS-CBN Studios, which provides updates on the entertainment productions of the Kapamilya network, is now housed at abs-cbn.com/entertainment.

Visiting Push, their own entertainment news portal, now also redirects users to the showbiz category of the new page.

Adding another dimension to the unification, is that all entertainment articles created by the Studios group and the News team are now seen in the same stream — providing a seamless user experience for visitors.

Metro.Style, which was a standalone website operated by its namesake magazine and TV channel, has also been transformed as the main Lifestyle section of the new ABS-CBN website.

Sports, which was a department of its own until 2020, still has its own separate anchor page, with stories chiefly provided by ABS-CBN News.

Meanwhile, when one looks up for the network’s published materials via search engines like Google, the website name being displayed refers to it as the ‘ABS-CBN Official Website.’

Despite the move of the four sections to the new interface, ABS-CBN’s corporate website continues to bear the old look and remains as its distinct sub-domain.

Another notable exclusion from the changes is Myx, which is operated by the ABS-CBN International group, as it continues to be on its own separate URL at myx.global.

iWantTFC, the network’s free ad-supported streaming hub, also remains as a separate entity from the unified website.

The merger of the units under one online roof comes amidst ABS-CBN’s continued push for its digital products after it pivoted to primarily become a content provider since its broadcast shutdown and franchise denial in 2020.
