Ruth Helen Sutton, née Schmidt, was born on January 17, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, and passed away at AdventHealth Hospital on February 25, 2025, in Shawnee, Kansas, at the age of 93.

Ruth was a devoted and loving presence in the lives of her family and friends. After completing her education, she embarked on a career as a telephone operator at AT&T, where she met her first husband, Leo Joseph Boschert. Her dedication to her family was evident as she paused her professional life to raise her children, before later resuming work in various roles as a receptionist.

Ruth had a lifelong passion for gardening, camping, fishing, cooking, and baking. These activities brought joy both to her and her loved ones, who cherished the time spent with her in these pursuits.

A woman of great faith, Ruth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 60 years and was also associated with Welstone Church, where she made lasting friendships and contributed to her community.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Thelma Schmidt; her brother, Dale Elmer Schmidt; her first husband, Leo Joseph Boschert; and her second husband, William L. Sutton.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Linda Jacquay and her husband Russell, and Laura Pyeatt and her husband Marty. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Andrea O’Dell, Felicia Watson and her husband Randy, Chad Pyeatt, and Brooke Jones and her husband William. She was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Jude Boyd.

Ruth will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
