Boy, 17, attacked by ‘unknown man’ outside shopping centre

A 17 year-old boy was approached and attacked by an ‘unknown man’ outside a shopping centre, police have revealed.

Greater Manchester Police said he was left with facial injuries and a concussion after the assault.

It happened outside the Spindles shopping centre in Oldham town centre at around 12.15pm on January 15, but details have only just been revealed by police.

Police said they believe the man may have been with another man at the time and are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Investigating officers are said to be following ‘several lines of enquiry’.

In a statement, GMP said: “Officers are appealing for information following an assault outside Spindles Shopping Centre, Oldham, on Wednesday 15 January 2025 at around 12.15pm.

“It was reported that a 17-year-old man was approached by an unknown man who attacked him which led to visible injuries on his face and a concussion. Through first enquiries officers believe that the suspect was wearing a black jacket with grey jeans and was possibly with another man.

“Officers investigating this incident have followed up with several lines of enquiry and are now in a position to ask for the public’s assistance.”
