PokerBROS exits Nevada market

Must read

Another option for Nevada’s online-poker players, on regulated sites or otherwise, has disappeared. Private online-club network PokerBROS has fully blocked access to its platform from anywhere within the Silver State, just days after sending its players an announcement about the withdrawal.

In a text message blasted to users of the app-based platform, PokerBROS offered this, titled ‘Nevada Restriction‘:

“Dear Valued Customer,

“We decided to make the app no longer available in Nevada. We are not closing your account and you will be able to play outside of Nevada (in other jurisdictions — see our Terms and Conditions)….”

The reverse is also true, in that PokerBros players registered elsewhere will be geoblocked as long as they are physically present in Nevada. Nevada’s online poker players have very few options at the present time. WSOP.com is the state’s only regulated site, and several unregulated sites no longer accept Nevadan players.

PokerBROS joins Global Poker in exiting Nevada

In pulling out of Nevada, PokerBros joined another site not regulated by that state, Global Poker. Global Poker is a sweeps-based site, however, unlike PokerBROS, which utilizes an in-game currency. PokerBROS’  ‘Diamonds’ currency can be exchanged for cash or merchandise.

Global Poker announced its withdrawal in December, though it didn’t turn off its service to Nevada until last week as well. Whether either or both sites were recently targeted with enforcement action by the Nevada Gaming Control Board is unknown.

As for PokerBROS, Nevada is the third US state where the app is no longer playable, joining Minnesota and Missouri.
