Air India is to increase frequencies on some routes to the UK, Austria and Switzerland as part of its summer 2025 schedule.
The carrier, which recently completed its merger with Indian rival Vistara, said it will increase services on its London Heathrow-Delhi route from 21 to 24 per week from 30 March.
Air India’s routes from Amritsar to Birmingham and London Gatwick will also both increase from three to four flights per week this summer, while its London Gatwick-Ahmedabad service will also go up from three to five weekly services.
Although Air India has also announced that it will stop operating from Gatwick to Kochi from 30 March “until further notice”.
Other changes to its European schedule will see flights between Delhi and Zurich increase from four to five per week, and Delhi-Vienna frequencies rise from three to four weekly.
Air India added in a statement that the modernisation of its short-haul narrowbody aircraft was “progressing well”, and it would start refitting its long-haul fleet in April – starting with its Boeing 787 Dreamliners undergoing a retrofit of new seats and entertainment systems.
The retrofitting of Boeing 777 aircraft, which had been due to start this year, will now be delayed until next year “due to production constraints at the selected seat supplier”.
