This year marks the 45th year of the Irish Poker Open’s long history, with Europe’s longest running poker event taking place in Dublin from April 10-21.
The live poker shindig, so beloved of players from across Europe and further afield, will offer increased guarantees for its Main Event (€2.5M) and Mini Irish Open (€1M), in addition to a €1M GTD Mystery Bounty and a suite of €5K buy-in high rollers.
But before the action kicks off at the Royal Dublin Society in April, PokerStars is hosting a special Irish Open Online series with over $800K GTD.
Starting February 17, online players will get the chance to win an Irish Poker Open title without leaving the house, as well as a package to travel to Dublin for the live event in April.
Live package to Dublin to be won
The schedule for the Irish Open Online will include a $200K GTD Main Event with a buy-in of $215, which will award extra prizes for the top three finishers.
Third place will receive a €109 satellite ticket for the Irish Poker Open Main Event, second place will receive entry to the €1,150 Main Event, while the winner will bag a $2,500 Irish Open Silver Pass including entry to the Main Event, expenses, concierge service and special pass-winners activities on site. Last year’s live Main Event winner, Finland’s Tero Laurila, booked a $317K win for topping the 3,233 player field in Dublin.
Buy-ins across the online series will range from $11 to $320, and formats will include no-limit hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, heads-up Zoom, progressive KOs, 8-game mix and mystery bounty tournaments.
PokerStars ambassador Fintan Hand will be playing and streaming throughout the series.
“The Irish Open Online is a really great, fun and accessible series to play” said Hand, who hails from the Republic of Ireland. “It’s an unmissable opportunity to get involved in great online poker with the chance to head to an iconic live event.”
