The third instalment of the PokerNews Online Championship (PNOC) starts on February 16 at 888poker. Players from far and wide will head to the online poker site to try to become PNOC champions. Don’t be surprised to see Malta’s “overbet13” among the many PNOC entrants because they just padded their bankroll with $8,131 and boosted their confidence by taking down the latest edition of the $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event.
A field of 967 entrants left a small overlay on the $100,000 guarantee, but those who finished in the money places did not care as it represented a little added value. The largest mystery bounty prize was worth $10,000. It found its way to the 888poker account of Germany’s “Sickslick” before they crashed out of the tournament in 41st place.
With bounties included, all eight finalists saw their $109 investment swell into four figures. None of the finalists utilized the re-entry format, each only firing once. The 888poker Twitch channel streamed cards-up coverage of the final table’s action. Here’s how it all panned out.

2 | RonIrishMofo | Canada | $1,009 | $5,340 | $6,349 |

4 | FlipandStop | Kazahkstan | $1,237 | $2,885 | $4,122 |
5 | AlCunningham | Montenegro | $388 | $2,135 | $2,523 |
6 | monteiro23 | Brazil | $1,412 | $1,590 | $3,002 |
7 | ninsad45 | Ukraine | $1,474 | $1,195 | $2,669 |
8 | CrackFiend15 | New Zealand | $310 | $905 | $1,215 |
It took the best part of half an hour before the first casualty of the final table was confirmed because none of the players were particularly short-stacked at the start of play. Something finally gave when the action folded to “CrackFiend15 in the small blind, and they moved all-in for just under 13 big blinds with ace-four. “sasha21place,” who had over 100 big blinds, called with ace-nine from the big blind. The big stack’s nine-kicker played, and the final table lost its first player.
A few minutes later, “ninsad45” followed “CrackFiend15″ to the rail. ” Monteiro23″ min-raised with ace-queen from under the gun before calling “ninsad45″‘s 13 big blind shove they’d mode from the button with pocket jacks. An ace on the flop proved enough for “monteiro23” to scoop the pot and resign “ninsad45” to a seventh-place finish.
Despite winning that pot, “Monteiro23” was the next player heading for the showers. They lost a chunk of their stack when the pocket tens of “AlCunningham” held against their queen-jack of clubs. They then had pocket kings cracked in a 62 big blind pot contested with “sasha21place.” The latter min-raised in the cutoff, “monteiro23” clicked it back on the button and then called off the 25 big blinds they had behind when “sasha21place” ripped it in. “sasha21place” showed ace-four, which needed some help against the at-risk player’s pocket kings. That help arrived in the shape of an ace on the turn, busting “monteiro23” in sixth and sending the stack of “sasha21place” to more than 122 big blinds.

“AlCunningham” bowed out in fifth despite being second in chips at the start of five-handed play. They lost a huge flip with ace-king against the pocket queens of “RonIrishMofo” and were left with seven big blinds. Their short stack went into the middle with king-five on a five-high flop, only for “sasha21place” to call with ace-ten of hearts and hit running cards for a wheel straight!
Fourth place looked to be going to “overbet13” because they were nursing a ten big blind stack. However, they doubled through “RonIrishMofo” with ace-queen versus ace-jack to give themselves some breathing room. Shortly after that timely double, “FlipandStop” saw their deep run end after a clash with the seemingly unstoppable “sash21place” went wrong.
“FlipandStop” jammed all-in for nine big blinds with ace-six from the small blind, “sasha21place” called in the big blind with the dominating ace-eight, and an eight on the river secured yet another mystery bounty payment for the sun-runner.
“sash21place” had almost 95 big blinds at the start of three-handed play, with “RonIrishMofo” on 32 and “overbet13” bringing up the rear with 19 big blinds. Despite the disparity in chip stacks, “sash21place” was cut down in third.
They lost a chunk of their stack after flopping second pair in a hand where “overbet13” had flopped top pair and backed into two pair on the river. A huge portion of their stack went to “overbet13” after “sasha21place”‘s mistimed aggression backfired. They raised all-in on a three-diamond board with nothing but air when “overbet13” had completed a flush on the river.
That hand left the once chip leader with 20 big blinds, which quickly dwindled to sub-ten big blinds. The last of “sasha21place”‘s chips went into the middle with ace-king, and “overbet13” called with queen-jack of clubs. A queen on the flop completed a hat-trick of victories for “overbet13” over “sasha21place,” and the tournament progressed to heads-up.
“overbet13” held a colossal 109.9 to 11 big blind advantage over “RonIrishMofo” and it proved too large a gap for the short-stack to bridge. A handful of hands into the one-on-one clash, “overbet13” moved all-in with ace-queen of hearts, and “RonIrishMofo” called off their 7.5 big blind stack with jack-eight of hearts. Neither player paired any of their hole cards, but “overbet13” didn’t need to. The board double paired, and “overbet13″‘s ace-kicker sent “RonIrishMofo” home in second place.
