In an era where Artificial Intelligence is reshaping industries, one Reddit user demonstrated just how far the technology can go by automating his job search.
Sharing his experience on the ‘Get Employed’ forum, the individual revealed how he built an AI bot capable of handling the entire application process.
I used AI to automatically apply for 1000 jobs – and I got 50 interviews!

The bot analysed job descriptions, tailored CVs and cover letters for each role, answered recruiter-specific questions, and automatically submitted applications—all while its creator slept. Over the course of a month, the bot applied for 1,000 jobs and secured 50 interview opportunities.
“This method is incredibly effective at passing through automated screening systems. By generating tailored applications, my bot significantly increased my chances of being noticed by both AI and human recruiters,” the user wrote.
While the innovation highlights AI’s efficiency, it also raises critical ethical and social questions. The user reflected on the implications of automating such a personal process, noting that, “As we seek to optimize the selection process, we risk losing the human element that often makes a difference in a work environment.”
He clarified that the experiment was conducted out of curiosity and not as a recommendation for others to follow, emphasising the ethical dilemmas posed by such automation.
The experiment also underscores broader debates about AI’s growing role in recruitment.
Critics argue that automation on both sides—by employers and job seekers—risks reducing professional relationships to impersonal exchanges. Others, however, see it as a game-changer in levelling the playing field in a competitive job market.
As companies increasingly rely on AI to filter candidates, the story serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between efficiency and maintaining human connections in the workplace.
