College Tuition:

The average cost of in-state college tuition is declining. The College Board determined the average student pays 40% less than what they did a decade ago. Meanwhile, the amount of students graduating with debt from in-state public universities is down from nearly 60% and the average loan balance is also down 17%.

For students at Texas Tech, the university system board of regents reports the university was one of three schools considered for a potential tuition increase for the 2025 fiscal year.

However, Governor Greg Abbott stepped in before a final decision was made and prohibited any tuition increases at public universities through 2027.

USPS:

USPS is suspending its regular mail delivery Thursday to observe former President Jimmy Carter’s national day of mourning.

USPS reports all post office locations will be closed, and all facilities are required to fly the US flag at half-staff through sunset on Wednesday, January 29.

USPS will still accept and process mail dropped by commercial mailers at mail processing facilities.

Operations will return to normal on Friday.

Financial markets like the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ will also be closed tomorrow.
