The European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Association (ECTAA) is set to host its Travel Protection Summit on 19 February 2025 at the Brussels Hilton Grand Place Hotel.
The summit will focus on one of the travel industry’s most critical issues — travel protection — and will explore both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) travel protection strategies.
Following a successful summit earlier this year that addressed payment issues in the travel sector, the 2025 edition of the ECTAA Travel Summit will examine the complexities surrounding travel protection, a key element of risk management that became particularly apparent during the global health crisis and continues to be influenced by factors such as macroeconomic instability, geopolitical tensions, and environmental risks.
Highlighting the significance of the summit, ECTAA President Frank Oostdam said travel protection is a cornerstone of trust and stability within the travel industry.
“This summit provides a critical platform for expertise exchange, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation to create effective and sustainable solutions,” Oostdam said.
According to ECTAA’s president, by tackling the challenges faced by both businesses and consumers, a “more resilient and competitive travel ecosystem” can be formed.
More than 100 industry professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders will gather to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the evolving landscape of travel protection. The event aims to develop innovative, effective solutions that can provide both businesses and consumers with the trust and stability needed to thrive in today’s travel ecosystem.
Key topics for discussion include:
– Understanding B2B vs. B2C travel protection: How the needs of businesses and consumers differ
– Risk management strategies: How to mitigate risks while controlling associated costs
– Competition and regulation: The impact on travel protection and future trends
– Innovation in protection: Exploring new ways to enhance the accessibility, efficiency, and sustainability of travel protection mechanisms
The summit will provide a day of expert insights, practical solutions, and constructive dialogue, all aimed at fostering sustainable growth and development in travel protection.
According to ECTAA, the summit offers a unique opportunity for industry professionals to collaborate and shape the future of travel protection.
