Must read

Considering a vacation to Dubai? If yes, you should consider the recently implemented regulations regarding tourist visas. As per the latest developments, Dubai’s Emigration Department has tightened the conditions for tourist visas to streamline the application process and improve security. Travellers will now be required to provide proof of their confirmed hotel bookings, along with return flight tickets to obtain a tourist visa.

This policy has been implemented with immediate effect, in an effort to expedite the visa application process and regulate footfall of visitors.

All about the updated visa requirements

When applying for a tourist visa, travellers are now required to submit:
Using a QR code to reserve a hotel: Reservations must be confirmed. Additional documentation, including the host’s residency paperwork, could be required for those staying with friends or family.

Ticket for the return flight: Open-ended or one-way tickets may result in visa rejection; a confirmed ticket is required.

These documents must be submitted with the application using the Emigration Department’s online portal. While visit visas can be processed by individuals, families, or trading companies, tourist visas can only be processed by approved travel firms.

New financial proof requirement

Applicants must now show sufficient funds via their credit or debit cards. The financial threshold is set at:

  • 5,000 Dirhams for a two-month visa
  • 3,000 Dirhams for a three-month visa

Although the goal of this adjustment is to guarantee that guests have the resources to sustain their stay, reports show that some applicants have experienced delays as a result of difficulties fulfilling these requirements.

Citizens of Pakistan and a number of African countries are currently subject to these rules. It’s unclear, though, if foreigners living in the United Arab Emirates will have to fulfil the same conditions while sponsoring family members’ visitation visas.

Visa options for Indian passport holders

Indian travellers have a number of visa options to select from, depending on their needs:

Visa-on-arrival: Indian citizens who fulfil specific conditions, like possessing a current visa or residency permit from the United States, United Kingdom, or European Union, are entitled to a 14-day visa, which can be extended by an extra 14 days.

Although it cannot be extended, the 60-day visa is perfect for lengthier trips.

Recently, a five-year multiple-entry visa was introduced to promote frequent travel for both work and pleasure.
