A study by Hilton has revealed that 64% of global travellers aim to prioritise leisure travel. As per the statistics, this shift occurred after the COVID-19 pandemic, with Gen Z and millennials leading the trend. The generation has its priority straight and rightly so! This is where the trend of sleep tourism comes into play. The meaning of the term is as simple as it sounds – travellers are now taking a vacation to just relax and rejuvenate.

Okay so lets make it simpler for you – imagine staying at a super luxurious property, eating the best of all cuisines, and the best bit would be getting at least 8 hours of sleep each day. Sounds satisfying, right? This is what the concept of sleep tourism promises.

Travellers are now prioritising this sentiment – so much so – that they are picking up properties which will enhance their quality of sleep. This is how wellness resorts are gaining more and more popularity.

The Skyscanner Travel Trends 2025 report highlights the rise of wellness tourism, noting that 70% of Indian travellers seek holistic experiences. Also 57% of them are prioritising health during vacations – which again aligns perfectly with the goal of sleep tourism.

Also, sleep deprivation happens to be a growing concern. According to a study conducted by Philips, 93% of people in India are sleep-deprived. This is where sleep tourism steps in to change things for the better. The best part is that there are hardly any drawbacks. After all, there is nothing really like a napcation.
