The Shape Up Women’s Fitness team raised a whopping R52 000 at the recent Pinkathon 5km cancer fundraiser in Park Rynie.
This event created cancer awareness and paid tribute to the fight against childhood cancer, giving hope to children fighting the battle.
All proceeds were donated to Preshthi Ishwarlal (6), who is fighting lymphoblastic leukaemia.
Her only chance of survival is a stem cell donor.
Stem cells often serve as the last hope for children battling various blood cancers, making increased awareness and donor registration essential.
Dimple Govender from the fitness group said that community members uniting and working together can make a big difference.
“We hope the funds raised will assist with Preshthi’s treatment. Thanks to everyone who contributed,” she added.
