WHAT: Board of education meeting Sept. 23
PRESENT: Shawn Chrystal, Janine Hamilton, Hans Kirr, David Malone and Kara Morgan
The board:
• Approved principal, administrative and administrative staff salary schedules for the next several academic years. They include a 3% base salary increase each year.
• Declared an Everett piano obsolete and authorized Superintendent Brian Knight to determine future actions with it.
• Approved an agreement between the district and Keys to Literacy LLC for the professional development and training materials related to literacy education for all administrators, teachers and instructional staff members. The program’s total cost is $11,400.
• Approved an agreement between the district and Cadence Care Network for the 2024-25 school year to establish social work, resiliency-based programming and behavioral health support for students. The cost will not exceed $48,000 and includes additional services for students assigned to home for instruction.
• Approved paying transportation stipends to the parents of students who are residents of their school district and eligible for transportation services, but has been deemed impractical to provide it to their selected schools. Time and distance, number of students and the cost of providing transportation in terms of equipment, maintenance, and personnel were considered.
• Accepted Madyson Hamner’s resignation as a math mentor for personal reasons.
• Granted a one-year limited contract to Robert Osthoff as math tutor from Victory Christian School, effective July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025 at a rate of $20.93 per hour.
• Removed Casey Baker from her one-year limited contract and approved making her a substitute teacher for the 2024-25 school year.
• Granted a one-year limited contract to Desirae White as luncheon / recess aide effective Aug. 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025 at a rate of $12.02 per hour.
• Accepted Nicholas Kratsas’s resignation as assistant football coach for the 2024-25 season.
• Accepted Luke Polito’s resignation as head boys basketball coach for the 2024-25 season.
• Approved Nicholas Kratsas as volunteer football coach for the 2024-25 season.
• Accepted Hadi Hadi’s $500 donation to the high school’s girls tennis team.
• Accepted Hadi Hadi’s donation of golf training equipment to the high school’s golf program.
• Accepted Walmart Inc.’s $1,000 school supply donation to the district.
