London travel news LIVE: Overground and Stansted Express hit by cancellations and delays due to broken rail

Commuters travelling to Liverpool Street are facing severe delays due to a broken rail in east London.

Routes between the busy station and Stansted Airport, Cambridge and Hertford East have been hit by cancellations and delays, with disruption expected to continue until the end of the day.

National Rail has warned that the broken rail was found overnight and the extent of the damage meant that the repair work could not be completed in time for the start of service on Tuesday.

The issue has hit Greater Anglia, London Overground and Stansted Express services.

No trains are able to run between Hackney Downs and Chingford on the London Overground. The issue has also sparked severe delays between Liverpool Street / Cheshunt and Enfield Town on the line.

Elsewhere on Tuesday morning, there were severe delays between Paddington and Heathrow Terminals / Reading while Network Rail fix a points failure at Southall.

There are severe delays on the District Line in west London due to a signal failure, TfL has warned.

Trains are disrupted between Wimbledon and Edgware Road due to the failure at East Putney.

Severe delays on the Elizabeth Line

There are severe delays on the Elizabeth Line between Paddington and Heathrow Terminals / Reading due to a points failure.

Network Rail is working to fix the issue at Southall and tickets are being accepted on local bus services.

London Overground unable to run due to broken rail

Trains are unable to run on the London Overground due to a track fault at Hackney Downs.

Transport for London has warned that there are also severe delays between Liverpool Street/Cheshunt and Enfield Town while they try to fix the issue.

National Rail has warned that Stansted Express and Greater Anglia services are also disrupted.
