The Municipality of Volos recently announced the launch of a new application aimed at making the city of Volos in Thessaly more accessible to residents and visitors interested in exploring its cultural and natural attractions.

An initiative by the municipality in partnership with local agencies, the “i-Volos” app aims to promote the city and its surroundings to a wider audience, enhancing its tourism appeal.

“The new application serves as a digital tourist guide, helping visitors navigate the destination and simplifying their exploration of the area,” the municipality said in an announcement.

The app functions in both online and offline modes, with the entire content available for download initially. According to officials, it provides users with access to information about the attractions of Volos, covering both the city and its surrounding areas.

The app features 75 of the city’s attractions, including monuments, museums, villages, and beaches, all marked on an interactive map. For each attraction, users can access a multilingual description in drop-down text, an audio tour option, and a series of photos.

Users will also have access to the address, contact details (where available), directions, and websites for specific attractions. Additionally, they can find useful phone numbers, suggested routes, and interact by uploading their own photos and rating their experiences.

Furthermore, the app serves as a valuable tool for large visitor groups, such as cruise passengers or students on school trips, where immediate access to information is essential.

Tablets have also been installed at the municipality’s Tourism Information Center, allowing visitors to explore the app’s features before deciding to download it to their own devices.
