HEADLINES:

-Next two mornings are chilly – records possible?
-Lots of sunshine next week.
-Perhaps some rain late week.

FORECAST:

It sure has been a great afternoon in our area today with lots of sunshine, comfortable temperatures and lower humidity. All of which will continue to stick around through the remainder of the weekend and into next week too. With that low humidity around, we could get down rather chilly overnight tonight. I don’t think we break a record tonight, however, tomorrow night, when we have very similar conditions (maybe even less of a breeze) I think that gives us a better chance. Still – it does get cool after the sun goes down for tonight. We’ll start off in the lower 70s around 7PM but we fall all the way into the upper 50s as we head closer to midnight! Take the jackets this evening, you may need them depending on your tolerance of chill.

Overnight – we get down even cooler. Lows are in the middle to upper 40s for most backyards. Records aren’t impossible overnight, but I think a better chance will come on Sunday night. Nevertheless, here are the numbers to beat tonight..

  • Lynchburg: 45 (1976(
  • Roanoke: 40 (1924)
  • Danville 48 (1984)
  • Blacksburg 36 (1924)

Sunday bring a chilly start to the day, some of you may want the jackets heading out the door in the morning to church or morning plans. Otherwise, we see more sunshine as we head through the day, with a gradually rebounding temperature. Highs are in the lower to middle 70s as we head through the day. Humidity levels still comfortable and not much of a breeze. Another really nice afternoon on tap.

Sunday night is clear and we could break some records. Shouldn’t see as much wind and therefore, the numbers will get down lower Monday morning. The numbers to beat are…

  • Lynchburg: 45 (2017)
  • Roanoke: 42 (1988)
  • Danville 48 (1976)
  • Blacksburg 35 (1988)

Most of the week is actually rather quiet and pleasant. Lots of sunshine and comfortable temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s. A rather uneventful week of weather… until we get to the end of the week. We’ll need to watch a system that could turn tropical in the gulf. Regardless of what it does there, the remains could reach us by the later half of the week. We’ll reintroduce a small shower chance on Friday, but a better one coming into the following weekend. Not a lot of confidence in the forecast right now, so keep checking back for updates.

-Will
