Must read

Icelandair and Emirates have announced a codeshare agreement which will open up “new and exciting travel corridors” between Reykjavik and Dubai.

Flights covered by the new codeshare will go on sale from 1 September subject to securing the necessary regulatory approvals.

The deal will allow Icelandair passengers in North America and Iceland to connect with Emirates’ eastbound flights to Dubai, while Emirates customers can connect westbound via Icelandair’s network to Reykjavik.

Bogi Nils Bogason, Icelandair’s president and CEO, said Emirates would become its seventh global airline codeshare partner.

“We have and will continue to expand our network of partner airlines, focusing on working with airlines that offer great service and connectivity,” said Bogason.

“Emirates’ extensive network will open exciting and convenient travel opportunities for our customers and we very much look forward to the expanded co-operation.”

Adnan Kazim, deputy president and chief commercial officer at Emirates, added: “We’re pleased to partner with Icelandair and offer our customers access to new and exciting destinations beyond our own network.”

The two airlines added in a statement that they expect to “further develop and expand the partnership in the future”.
