BBC star Emma Barnett announced that she will be moving to Radio 4 as part of the Today Programme. The 39-year-old announced the news on social media after gushing over her friendship with Naga Munchetty.

Naga, 49, who fronts the BBC Breakfast Show has forged a friendship with Emma during their days at BBC 5 Live. In 2010 Naga became a regular with the broadcasting network after presenting early morning bulletins on the BBC News Channel as well as BBC World News.

Since then, she has gone on to host their BBC One Breakfast show and sits alongside Charlie Stayt. Emma took to Instagram and shared a sweet snap of the pair smiling at the camera.

Emma beamed as she pulled Naga in close, with the duo donning a cheesy grin at the camera lens. Naga was pictured in a navy coat, and a grey woolly scarf, while holding onto her backpack.

Meanwhile, Emma’s blonde locks were perfectly placed as she donned a green jacket. She penned to her 72,000 followers an endearing post which said the pair have a treasured bond.

“This woman. A friendship and broadcasting sisterhood – forged years ago through our @bbc5live link and a bond I treasure.

“I love our no BS talks, laughs and mutual advice sessions. Never change @tvnaga. (And thanks for the early morning drill tips ahead of my new job @bbctodayprogramme on @bbcradio4) @bbcbreakfast has trained you well.”

This comes after the journalist clashed with a sports guest earlier this week. Naga and Charlie, 61, were joined on the red sofa by sports presenter Hugh Ferris and talk turned to saunas.

During Saturday’s edition, viewers noted a slight tension after the broadcaster had an awkward exchange with his colleague on-air.

Charlie was going through the paper’s headlines but urged Hugh not to interrupt him.

But it didn’t take long for the sports correspondent to hit back in a cheeky dig: “This is the earliest I’ve ever been offered a sauna.”

It comes after Naga’s co-star had previously cut him off after asking Hugh a question as Charlie remarked: “I need to get through this.”
