Hello and happy Monday, everybody, it’s Tyler Henry, back with another KINA Sports Update presented by Salina Regional Orthopedic and Sports Medicine…

If there was one team the Kansas City Royals desperately needed to distance themselves from it was the Minnesota Twins, and on Sunday, Michael Wacha pitched seven innings of four-hit ball, Garrett Hampson and Salvador Perez drove in runs and the Royals beat the Twins 2-0 to complete a series sweep of their closest pursuers in the AL wild-card.

Wacha struck out seven while allowing just one walk in his 100th career win. He got plenty of help from his defense, which turned two double plays and threw out a runner trying to score from first base in the first inning.

With the Sweep, the Royals are now 2.5 games up on the Twins for the second Wild Card Spot and just 2.5 games behind Cleveland for first in the AL Central
